The genesis of Green Lake Litter Patrol came about after a walk around Green Lake Park in July 2012. G. Todd Young was disappointed at the amount of litter observed around the grounds and lakeside and Green Lake Litter Patrol was born that day. Todd then purchased litter-collecting supplies and gathered friends to start the first litter patrol. Green Lake Litter Patrol has been patrolling each week ever since.
Seattle Parks and Recreation has been extremely supportive of Green Lake Litter Patrol by providing volunteer vests and litter bags. We are happy to supplement the hard work that they put into our parks year-round. We owe a debt of gratitude to the staff and employees that work tirelessly to keep our green spaces clean and beautiful, as well as the many other volunteers across Seattle.
Green Lake Litter Patrol’s goal is to partner with our Green Lake neighbors to increase our exposure, volunteerism, and education. Let’s meet up for a Litter Patrol, Green Lake Park needs our love and support.
