It was 24 degrees at Green Lake Park for our litter patrol this morning. We had a hearty crew of 4 patrollers make a tremendous effort on a chilly morning. Everyone commented on how peaceful and beautiful the park was on a frosty morning. Gwen Miller from Shorewood High School came out for community service hours and did stellar job of contributing to todays patrol. Also thanks to Jud & Issa, outstanding!! Our friends at Boat House Coffee warmed us up with a complimentary hot beverage. We are picking up a bunch of litter every week so please come on out and get involved. Thanks!
Our first litter patrol of 2013 was a big success with the help from Green Lake Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Shop employees. In total we had 12 patrollers out making a difference today. We stopped at Peet’s Coffee & Tea for a complimentary coffee and heard the news that the manager Sarah gave birth to a healthy baby boy over the Holidays. Congratulations Sarah!! Come on out and join us in 2013.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays from all of us at Green Lake Litter Patrol. We had 6 hardy patrollers out today: Jud, Teri, Gene, Peter, Issa & Todd. I am so proud of all of the people who have joined us for a litter patrol in 2012. The park is the cleanest that I have ever seen it. Our hard work is paying off. The goal is to expand these patrols to parks throughout Seattle. Please contact us if you would like to join the team! I want to thank Tommy from the Boat House Coffee Shop. His warm smile and hot coffee hit the spot today. Have a joyous & restful Holiday!

As Winter moves into Seattle- Green Lake Litter Patrol is busy cleaning the hard to reach areas around the lake. We are pulling out litter that has been there for years and it feels really good. Our determined volunteers are braving cold and rainy weather to really make a difference in Green Lake Park. Please make it point to come out and join us for a litter patrol. You will glad you did!
Green Lake Litter Patrol 12-9-12
December weather does not stop our weekly patrols at Green Lake park. I feel so honored that our incredible volunteers jump in, search out and pick up so much litter each week. Especially the debris along the edge of the lake that effects the wildlife and water quality. We are appreciative that Peet’s Coffee and Tea gives our team a hot beverage each week. Please support Peet’s! Thanks to Alex, David, Vicky, Alex, Veronica & Todd for a great job today!
Green Lake Litter Patrol 12-2-12
The Sun was shining as we started our litter patrol today at Green Lake Park. Jud, Peter, Gene & Todd made a good crew and picked up 11 full bags of bottles, cans, plastic and misc debris. Our effort to clean out the areas hidden by summer foliage is producing great results. We are pulling out litter that has been in and around the lake for a long time. It really feels good each week to make an impact in the park. Especially with all the birds that live around the lake. We hope to see you next week!

Green Lake Litter Patrol 11-18-12
Well, the rains finally fell on our litter patrol at Green Lake. We have had over 65 weeks of patrols and this was our first downpour day. Not too bad for living in Seattle. We had a great group of 12-6th graders ( soccer team) and their parents endure the rains and had a great time learning how to operate the pickers while searching for litter. Big thanks to Coach Robb for getting the crew out. Peet’s Coffee & Tea spoiled us with hot chocolate and whip cream. Thanks Peet’s! Come and join us Thanksgiving weekend.
We Will Be Back
We will be back & we invite others to show up Sunday mornings at 9:00. Thanks, Todd, for organizing this!
